I seem to have brought back the hot sunny weather from my Majorcan holiday. Long may it last! I visited the Quays this afternoon for a walk in the sunshine and was pleasantly surprised by all the activities that were going on. First there was a graduation event from Salford University with students celebrating their academic success with their families. It was busy and lovely and a perfect day for that perfect picture. Photo opportunities arose everywhere and the sound of happy laughter filled the air. It reminded me of dear daughter mine’s graduation only two years ago. That was a sunny day as well and Durham Cathedral was an excellent pace for the ceremony. We had photos as well and a celebrated her Master’s with a meal out by the river. I was so very proud of her (and still am!!) With dear daughter mine and my lovely husband we walked over to the water sports centre and sat in the pub grounds watching three people water skiing. It seemed a fun activity but what really caught our eyes was a young woman on a paddle board out in the middle of the water practising yoga. It was beautiful to watch; so graceful and elegant. Yoga is difficult on dry land but the balance that she needed and succeeded in was doubly hard on a water board!! A very impressive workout! As we sat there with the sun setting other groups of people came out to enjoy the sunshine. The pub filled up with bare - chested young men mixing with suited office workers. A group of girls paddled around the canals in canoes and as always there was the group of young men jumping in the canal basin although this year they made it more interesting by tying a blue rope across the canal and tight rope walked as far as they could before falling into the cold, take- your-breath away water. We finished up having fish and chips at the Lowry centre before returning home. It was a nice way to end our holiday break. Tomorrow the ironing starts!! LOL Thought for the day: Embrace the day and smile.
