On Tuesday I wrote about my weekend away at a Murder Mystery event, which I attended with my lovely husband and two friends. Today I want to mention the problems that I had with the packing for this weekend! I tell you packing for a weekend let alone a week in this country is a nightmare! It doesn’t matter which season or time of year it is because our weather is so unpredictable. I know what you are thinking- layers- that’s the answer but I look like the Michelin tyre man when I try layers and that is not a good look! The problems start with what to wear for the journey as I am usually warm in the car then cold rushing from the car to the restaurant at the service station on the motorway, then warm again when having a drink break. Layers become more uncomfortable; holding me prisoner in their warmth and I feel trapped. Then just thinking about two evening meals, one of them the murder mystery event and two days sightseeing out and about makes my head explode with indecisions. Some hotels are warm whilst others are cold. I’ve been in some where the icicles shiver! Then the meals themselves conjure up total all encompassing panic. Will people dress up? Will it be evening attire and is a long dress required? Will it be less formal on the Friday evening? And so on and son until I stand in front of my overnight bag comatose! Once decisions have been made to cover every eventuality, from freezing snow storms through to thunderous downpours and onto warm sunny, dry days; the bags are finally packed! I’m sure some clever mathematician could do an algorithm that would prove that the amount I took for two days away in this country compared with the amount I take away when holidaying abroad for two weeks was much more per item per day. Oh well- C’est-la-vie! Thought for the day: Over-pack! It’s why suitcases have wheels now! LOL
