Isn't this picture dismal and depressing? Does it make you want to use it, to try on new clothes? What is it about ladies changing rooms that annoy you? Is it the terrible lighting that turns your skin into a ghostly pallor? You know what I mean, that yellow, sallow drone look. Is it the ill fitting curtains that have to be swished then swashed until they fill in the small gaps otherwise all your worldly goods are on show? Or could it be the carnival mirrors that dump you down or widen you out. You could pay good money to go and look at these optical illusions at a circus or fair but don’t bother just step into any ladies changing room and you can see these effects for free. Another thing that annoys me is the floor of the changing rooms. It is so often full of dirty, dust bunnies that my allergy stands on red alert. Let’s face it; we ladies take in expensive items of clothing, such as long dresses and trousers, which sweep across the floor only to end up with a thin line of dusty, grey grime left on the hem of the item. Why can’t they be swept or hoovered more regularly? A stool or chair would also be beneficial inside the changing room, I mean, where do you put your own clothes? The number of times that I have had to place them on the floor is too many too count. Honestly, would it take too much time to clean them up a bit? I’ve found discarded coke cans, chocolate wrappings as well as coat hangers left behind by other users. Clothing stores really need to tidy up their changing room image; don't you agree? However, what really annoys me most is the lack of tissues! Yes that's right tissues! A handy box of tissues that could be used to wipe away the tears of disappointment, which appear when the item of clothing sought and admired then tried on with breathless anticipation...stinks! And reality hits the unsuspecting buyer that the look in their minds is not the look that has been achieved!! So clothing stores get buying! Tissues please, in bulk!” To end on a more happier note I found this charming changing room just recently at a ... Garden Centre!

Have you ever met or seen a celebrity outside their normal habitat? I have. I know lots of you will have as well but how did you react? Were you excited and drew attention to yourself or were you nonchalant and cool as if it happened to you every day? The feeling of excitement that races up and down and tingles throughout my body is most unexpected. I really don’t know why it affects me this way. I feel giddy and smile a lot. It’s not even my normal smile but a ‘dumb –der’ kind of smile. However I do remember once being really cool when I met a celebrity and was really pleased with myself for showing no reaction whatsoever. I was in Kendal’s’ department store just finishing off changing. At that time they had communal changing rooms and two other ladies were in there with me. One was a rather large older lady and the other a younger slimmer one. I did a double take when I realised it was Sue Nicholls, who plays Audrey Roberts, from Coronation Street. She was trying on a cream silk blouse and she asked me for my opinion. “Does it look okay?” she asked me. I nodded and said, “Yes it looks fine. It suits you.” I was really calm and collected! She looked at the other lady who had also tried on a new outfit. “That looks nice,” Audrey said. The lady blushed bright red. Audrey looked at me for confirmation and again I nodded. Audrey re dressed and took the blouse. “Bye!” she said. As she left, the other lady and I shrugged as if this kind of thing happened every time we went into changing rooms. But as I left the shop I remember the huge, silly smile, which appeared on my face and it lasted all the way home. Thought for the day: We don’t meet people by accident. They are meant to cross our path for a reason. |
